Leaders of the G20 welcomed progress made by the GPFI on advancing financial inclusion. In their declaration released at the end of the Summit in St. Petersburg, Russia, on September 6, 2013, the G20 Leaders endorsed the recommendations of the GPFI Report.

At their Summit in St. Petersburg, Russia, the G20 Leaders supported new measures to track progress towards financial inclusion. The Leaders endorsed the G20 Financial Inclusion Indicators developed by the GPFI and designed to assess the state of financial inclusion by measuring access to, use and quality of financial services.

The GPFI Report to the G20 Leaders summarizes GPFI activities throughout the end of 2012 and the eight months of 2013, presents the main achievements under the Russia’s G20 Presidency and describes the outlook for the rest of 2013 and into the start of the Australian Presidency. Building on the work summarized in the report, the GPFI elaborated four recommendations for the G20 Leaders to endorse at their Summit in St. Petersburg, Russia.

IFC and CGAP released the "Financial Access 2012: Getting to a More Comprehensive Picture" report on July 9, 2013. The report assesses the state of financial inclusion globally. It is based on data from the International Monetary Fund’s Financial Access Survey, a survey of financial regulators in 187 jurisdictions that covers access to deposits, loans, and insurance by households and enterprises.
