07/30/2018 - 11:42am

The second G20 Global Partnership for Financial inclusion (GPFI) Plenary meeting under the Argentine G20 Presidency was held in Riyadh on 2 July 2018. Argentina formally presented the G20 Policy Guide, which was endorsed by GPFI members.

Titled, “G20 Policy Guide, Digitisation and Informality: Harnessing Digital Financial Inclusion for Individuals and MSMEs in the Informal Economy”, it serves as a practical tool to assist both G20 and non-G20 policymakers and regulators in the implementation of a digital financial inclusion agenda.

Discussions at the Plenary also covered ongoing work on remittances, as well as on forcibly displaced persons. In addition, several key publications were endorsed, including guidance notes on digital onboarding, consumer protection, financial literacy, and an open infrastructure for digital transactions. Finally, the Plenary also offered an opportunity for the next GPFI chair, Japan, to introduce potential topics for the global partnership once its presidency begins next year.
